Wi-Fi is abbreviation of Wireless Fidelity. It means a group of standard applied for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). Initially Wi-Fi is used for usage of sets of wireless and Local Area Networks ( LAN), but for the moment it is more applied to access an internet. This thing enables someone to apply a computer with wireless card or Personal Digital Assistant ( PDA) to connect with an internet using access point (or it is recognized as hotspot) closest. Internet wireless is internet networks using radio frequency and working for high speed, that is 11 – 54 Mbps.
Wi-Fi can operate with two modes, that is mode managed and mode ad-hoc. Mode managed applies access point as data traffic regulator, quicker data transfer, broader coverage area, and the arrangement and security of data is more well guaranted. It is also commonly use for hotspot Wi-Fi and office affairs require the stability and security of data. Mode ad-hoc, that is inter-device networks of Wi-Fi peer to peer. Weakness of mode ad-hoc is if the device Wi-Fi connected too much, data transfer will be slow. The advantages are practical and cheaper if it is connected only 2 or 3 computers, without having to buys access point. (more…)
